Meet Your Trainers

In memory beloved Brandi. October 10, 2010 – April 9, 2023.

Smart Dog Pet Training was built to help dog owners see real results through personalized, in-home training. If you’re looking for dog training in Salem, and learn more about us and what we do, our programs are designed to work in real homes, not just controlled environments.

Led by Glen, Smart Dog Pet Training focuses on practical, results-driven training that fits your dog, your home, and your lifestyle. Every dog is different, which is why we don’t use one-size-fits-all programs. Instead, we create customized training plans that address your dog’s specific needs.

From basic obedience to more challenging behavior issues, our mission is simple — help you enjoy a calmer, more well-behaved dog.

Positive, Proven Training That Builds Trust

We use reward-based, positive reinforcement training methods that teach your dog what to do — not just what to avoid.

Our approach focuses on:

Clear communication between you and your dog
Building confidence and trust
Reinforcing calm, controlled behavior
Real-world training in your home, neighborhood, and public spaces

This means your dog learns how to behave not just during training — but in everyday situations like walks, visitors at the door, and time at home.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I am very thankful for Kristen and Smart Dog Pet Training for all their support with helping us to work better with Toby. He is a quick learner, and Kristen has shown us how to make working with Toby effective and fun. The six week program was exactly what we need to help Toby overcome his nervousness with other dogs and to find ways to mentally stimulate him so he gets more enjoyment.

If you're in the Salem area and in need of some training support for your doggos, I highly recommend Smart Dog Pet Training.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Glen is an excellent dog trainer! He helped my daughter with her Frenchie and they are doing great together and he is always willing to answer my questions. The one thing I like most about Glen is he comes to your location and works with your pet where they live which makes a big difference, rather than just going to a group class. Then he meets you in a public location and works on socialization and behavior around other dogs. He gives personalized attention to just YOUR pet. I have great respect for his experience and integrity and highly recommend him for your pet training needs.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I can't say enough good things about Smart Dog Pet Training, LLC and our trainer, Glen.

When we first started training, Hope was very reactive and would not let people come into our home without barking and becoming very upset. Because I'm training Hope to become my service dog, it was important to find a trainer who understood our goals and could help us build a strong foundation.

From our very first session, Glen took the time to get to know both Hope and me. He listened carefully to our goals, explained what was causing Hope's behavior, and created a personalized training plan with clear milestones for us to work toward. I really appreciated how patient he was and how thoroughly he explained everything. He gave us the confidence to continue practicing between sessions because we understood not just what to do, but why we were doing it.

Over the six weeks, the transformation in Hope was incredible. He met every goal Glen had set for him, and we noticed a huge difference in his behavior. He's much quicker to settle down, easier to redirect, and so much more confident. We also feel much more confident as handlers because of everything Glen taught us.

What impressed me most was that Glen genuinely cared about our success. He celebrated Hope's progress with us and wanted to make sure we had the tools to continue building on what we learned after the program ended.

We're so thankful for Glen's guidance and expertise. If you're looking for a trainer who is knowledgeable, encouraging, and truly invested in helping both dogs and their owners succeed, I highly recommend Smart Dog Pet Training, LLC. It was one of the best investments we've made for Hope, and we're excited to keep building on everything we've learned.
