Salem Dog Trainers With A Stress Free Approach

Nicole Brazil

Hello! I have always had a passion for working with dogs.

While growing up, my family had dogs and I was fortunate to begin learning and observing dogs and their behavior from a young age.

I became interested in training when my family and I adopted an unruly dog from the local shelter. We hired a trainer to help us and working with that trainer inspired me to want to pursue training.

I have 3 years of experience as an Animal Trainer for the movie industry in Los Angeles. 3 years of experience as a Humane Law Enforcement Officer for San Diego Humane Society.

Plus many years of experience volunteering at local animal shelters working with dogs with a wide variety of behaviors and needs.

I love working with and training all different kinds of dogs. Dogs are incredible creatures and the bonds they can create with people are special. I enjoy being a part of a dog’s journey in finding its place within.

Customized Puppy Training

Starting in-home private puppy training as early as possible will give your puppy a “Smart Start” without the stress of other dogs and people. Our puppy training classes in Salem are personalized for puppies starting at 8-weeks up to 6-months old.

Our In-home private puppy classes eliminates the worry of having to expose your puppy to unsafe environments and in the presence of other dog’s prior to your puppy getting all the proper vaccinations.

Is In-Home Dog Training Right for You?

For older dogs, senior dogs and adopted and rescued dogs, group sessions may or may not be the right choice for your dog. Does your dog have a calm nature and gets along with other dogs?

If you dog does not do well with other dogs, on or off leash, is very excitable, or may have behavior issues due to a variety of reason, an adopted dog or rescued dog probably will not do well in groups sessions.

AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy & CGC (Canine Good Citizen)

All of our dog training is taught by AKC evaluators offering the S.T.A.R. Puppy program, the AKC CGC (Canine Good Citizen) program, and the Urban Canine Community program.

Aggressive Dog Training with Experienced Trainers

If you recently adopted or rescued a puppy or adult dog who may have some unwanted behaviors, our Salem dog trainers can help. Shy or fearful of people or dogs, show signs of aggression on or off leash, and lack of proper socialization skills.

Our Salem dog trainers have specialized training experience, certifications and knowledge in working specifically with all breeds and behaviors with shy or fearful aggression dog behaviors.

Many times these dogs have had a rough start to life, who come from shelters or rescue organizations that have saved these dogs from abuse, abandonment, and terrible life on the streets.

Love-Train-Protect

As a member of Fear-Free Oregon and PPG (Pet Professional Guild), we only offer force-free, science based positive reinforcement puppy training and adult dog obedience training with no pinch collars or e-collar training.

With dogs that have experienced abuse, lack of socialization or just shy in nature, it is crucial to understand their behavior, how to communicate with them, and regain their trust.

We teach you how to understand and communicate with your dog to regain their trust and respect. It does NOT happen overnight in most cases. It takes time.

With a Love-Train-Protect philosophy, you can learn how to help your puppy or adult dog overcome any negative behaviors your dog may be experiencing with diligence, love and patience.

Puppy training in the comfort of your home can include potty training, crate training, nipping & biting, chewing, in addition to basic commands such as sit, stay, down, wait, leave-it, and come. All training is completely customized based on your puppies training needs.

Give your puppy a “Smart Start” with one of our Salem dog trainers.

Our Old English Bulldog Lucy is almost 11 months old. We really needed help with training, as Lucy is our first dog. We are VERY happy with Smart Dog Pet Training. They were a tremendous help! Lucy has learned A LOT in just a few sessions. I think it really helps that they come to your home. It is really convenient. Also, their rates are affordable. What else can I say? We are just so happy with Lucy’s progress. Even our friends and family are amazed with how much Lucy has learned. She sits, stays, will “leave it”, and doesn’t jump on visitors like she used to. She is also walking on a leash without pulling like she used to. All this and we’re only about half way through our six week course! Thanks! You do an EXCELLENT JOB!

Salem Skylar Dog Trainer

Skylar Thompson

Hello, my name is Skylar Thompson and I have always had a love for animals. While growing up we always had dogs for as long as I can remember.

The first dog I ever worked with was my childhood dog Ruger we got when I was 9. He was a mess when we adopted him. I started working with him and entered into our local 4-H group for Obedience and Showmanship.

Our first year we had won first in Obedience at Marion County fair and advanced to the state fair division. That’s when I really fell in love with working with dogs. Obedience, Dock diving, you name it.

Fast forward a couple years I got a job in Veterinary Medicine and loved being an advocate for those who were in pain, but couldn’t speak. Working in Veterinary Medicine, nothing make me more happy when a dog comes in with the skills and training it needs to make the vet visits a breeze. I strive to help people enjoy their pets and take pride in their pets training.

I can’t wait to be apart of your dog’s journey as you grow together as a team and create a bond like no other.
